Qui-Gon Jinn was a wise and unconventional Jedi Master during the era of the Galactic Republic. Born approximately 92 years before the Battle of Yavin, he was trained by Count Dooku and, later, trained Obi-Wan Kenobi as his Padawan. Jinn was known for his strong connection to the Living Force, emphasizing the present moment over the traditional Jedi Code.

During a mission to resolve a trade dispute involving the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo, Qui-Gon discovered Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine. Sensing Anakin's extraordinary potential in the Force, Jinn believed him to be the Chosen One, destined to bring balance to the Force. He defied the Jedi Council's skepticism and insisted on training Anakin, but his request was denied.

Tragically, Qui-Gon Jinn was killed in a lightsaber duel by Darth Maul on Naboo. Before his death, he pleaded with Obi-Wan to train Anakin, a final wish that Kenobi honored. Qui-Gon's legacy continued through his influence on Obi-Wan and, indirectly, on Anakin. In death, he learned to retain his consciousness as a Force ghost, eventually teaching Yoda and Obi-Wan this ability.
